Q: When does Windows Server 2016 support end?

Mainstream support ended in January 2022 and extended support (security updates) ends in January 2027. After that only paid Extended Security Updates, if offered, would continue patches.

Q: Should I upgrade 2016 to 2022 or 2025?

For most servers, 2025: it has the longest support window. If an app vendor only certifies 2022, we’ll go with that. We test your apps first either way.

Q: Can 2016 be upgraded in place?

Often, yes, if the edition and roles allow it. For domain controllers and busy app servers we usually recommend a new server and a controlled migration.

Q: Do you manage Windows Server in Azure and AWS?

Yes, as well as on your own hardware and virtualisation platforms.

Windows Server 2016 still runs a lot of business apps, IIS sites and domain controllers, but Microsoft’s extended support ends in January 2027. We keep your 2016 servers patched and hardened today and plan a calm upgrade to 2022 or 2025 before the deadline.
